Chapter 0 - New Technology
IMHO, 3 cheap objects have come on the market that make technological sexual exploration and experimentation an approachable goal…
#1 Itty-bitty vibration motors #
#2 Tissue-thin 3M sticky tape #
Should this go on skin? Probably not, but, who am I to judge. That said, its certainly safe if you use a rubber barrier in between the tape and your skin. Either way, 3M 9448A double stick tape is truly tissue thin, holds well on shear forces and comes easily away from “surfaces” with a peeling motion.
Further, it is easily tearable by hand.
#3 Arduino mini “Clones” #
Arduino has always been an open standard, but, one that was not always mass produced at “disposable” pricing. In the 2000’s/early 2010’s I bitched because they were expensive compared to Microchip, but,
these days it is easy to get a 3-pack of Arduino minis for less than $5 each. The Arduino dev environment is nicely supported and it is easily programmed.
On these cheaper units there are a couple of concessions that need to be dealt with. If you want the header pins on the board, you will have to attach them yourself. Also, this guy does not use the standard USB chip, it instead uses the CH340. You may or may not need to download a drive to communicate with your chip; I did not need the driver.
While, I do talk about how to attach the header pins in the next section, I currently have not written up how to get started with the Arduino platform…. There are already some good tutorials (like this one).
